One of the huge advantages enjoyed by a chorus in the music-rich New York metropolitan area is the ready availability of outstanding soloists. The Great Neck Choral Society occasionally offers solo opportunities to its most talented members, and a few of these have gone on to become professional singers (some returning later as soloists for our concerts). However, the Society mostly engages professional soloists, and some of these have been stellar names indeed--singers widely known, in some cases internationally, for their work on the concert stage or in opera. Among the best known opera stars in the list below are Barbara Smith Conrad, Elaine Malbin, Maralin Niska and Judith Raskin. Please note the following:
