The Music Director
Virginia Davidson, who celebrated her 76th birthday in 2004, has been music director of the Great Neck Choral Society starting with the
1998-1999 season.
She holds a Doctorate of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. Her singing debut in Carnegie Recital Hall has been followed by hundreds
of recitals and concerts with prestigious professional groups, including the Gregg Smith Singers and Musica Sacra, in the U.S. and Eastern Europe.
As a conductor, Dr. Davidson has developed orchestras in central Florida and has presented concerts, festivals and tours in Eastern
Europe. Her work in schools includes artist residencies, master classes, workshops and performances. Dr. Davidson is an active composer
and has a studio of professional and developing singers.
She is founder and music director of the Davidson Singers, a touring choir which has visited Austria, Russia, the Slovak countries and the British Isles. She is
also founder and music director of the New York Treble Singers, a professional ensemble of 12 women who
specialize in original music, particularly American music of the 20th Century, written for treble voices.
Dr. Davidson avidly promotes the performance of new music. She was featured in the seventh edition of International Who’s Who in Music and Musicians’
Directory, published in May 2000.
